What present should give to my girlfriend for the first time?

Yesterday she let me know she has earned a distinction in her first semester at college.I have right away promised I would offer her something. It will be the first present I ever offer her.I don't know what to do. Should I take her out to a special place and share a meal,buy her something,what? Advise me on what to do.
