MIT regularly turns down 4.0 students and valedictorians. If your GPA is all you have going for you, you won't get in. If you can find a way to really impress them, your GPA won't matter. MIT limits you to listing 5 activities or less, and you really want to make those count - like patents, original research, publications, inventions, etc. You WILL be competing against a lot high school students who have already accomplished that. The activities you have planned won't make you stand out. And most students applying to college are a year ahead in math - most applying to the top schools are 1-3 years ahead in math.
