My central air conditioner for my home is making a hissing noise?

I have a amana GSX13 Distinctions Air Conditioner 13 seer. It makes a hissing noise(like a air valve being opened) every 20 seconds for 3 seconds. It seems to only do this in hot (90's) weather. The air blows out cold but the noise is a nuisance.
